OUR WHY

AT PEACE HOME VETERINARY CARE

My journey into providing senior pet care began with my first dog, Gladys. I adopted her during my second year of veterinary school after she was rescued from the cab of a semi-truck. Severely obese and in poor health, Gladys needed surgery to remove all her teeth before becoming my beloved companion. Within 24 hours of bringing her home, I knew something was wrong and rushed her to the school's oncology department, where I faced every pet parent’s worst fear: a cancer diagnosis.

Diagnosed with bladder cancer called Transitional Cell Carcinoma (TCC) meant that without treatment, Gladys had only about one month to live.

Despite being a veterinary student with limited resources, I made the decision to forego my honeymoon savings to fund chemotherapy for Gladys. Those treatments gave her six wonderful months of quality life—months filled with joy, comfort, and unconditional love.

Saying goodbye to her was one of the hardest moments of my life, and it changed me forever. Gladys taught me that it’s not about how much time we have with our pets, but the quality of the life we give them in those moments. This experience changed my veterinary trajectory completely: to provide compassionate, dignified care for pets and their families during life’s hardest moments.

My mission is to ensure that the process of a pet transitioning from life to death does not fracture the deep human-animal bond they have with their owner (you!), and I look forward to helping protect that for your family.
